Atheists and politics

“There are no laws barring atheists from running for President in the US”
well damn, wish all the women who wanted to run for President knew that before.

black people, too. maybe we would have had a black President sooner.

JFK was just making it up about how much controversy he faced over being Catholic instead of a Protestant.

it is a lie that there are 7 states banning atheists from holding public office. the law in those states don’t say atheists can’t serve. It says that believers can’t be disqualified from serving. see, you just have to acknowledge the existence of a God if you want any chance of getting elected – and staying in office. nothing wrong with a little white lie. and if you manage to get elected without discussing your religious beliefs and people find out you’re an atheist, and they try to get you out of office, it’s your fault for not telling.

thanks for educating us atheists about how tolerant our political system and society is. it totally does not pander to WASPS in spite of any laws against discrimination.
